2% (10 - 12 drops per oz)

Dilute!  Dilute!  Dilute!

Essential Oils are very concentrated.  It takes a many pounds of the plant to make just one ounce.  In fact, lavender requires about 3 pounds of the plant to make just a half ounce of essential oil.  Some essential oils take much more of the plant to produce the same amount of essential oil.  Because the oils are highly concentrated you only need a small amount to get results.

  • High concentrations of essential oils can cause skin reactions.  Sometimes the skin will then choose to react adversely regardless of the dilution

  • More is not better in the case of essential oils.  High concentrations are just not necessary to get results

  • Using more means that bottle of oil doesn't last as long as it could

Diluting

1% (5 to 6 drops per oz)

Pregnant women, Kids, & Elderly should use a 1% dilution.  When using oils to balance emotions a 1% dilution is perfect.  It is also the dilution ratio that should be used when diluting for use on the face.
